Bids In For EUR1bn Spanish Highway PPPs
The Province of Bizkaia’s Department of Public Works in northern Spain has received bids for four highway PPPs worth a combined EUR1.05bn.
Six consortia have submitted bids for three of the projects: the EUR267m BI-635/N-240 concession, the EUR220m BI-633 concession and the EUR319m N-636 concession. The six consortia are:
- SACYR Concessions/ Mariezcurrena Construction/ Ganeta Investments;
- FCC Construction/ Vialia Concessions/ Balzola/ Meridiam;
-OHL/ Isolux Corsan/ CYCASA/ Altuna and Uria/ Enrique Otaduy/ Nortunel/ Bico;
- Iridium Concessions/ Pabisa/ Obras Subterráneas / Geotunnel;
- Acciona/ Exbasa/ TIIC Concessions/ Transitia Concessions/ Viuda De Sainz;
- Murias/ Ortiz/ Viconsa.
Four of the consortia have also submitted bids for the EUR245m BI-631 concession. The four consortia are:
- SACYR Concessions/ Mariezcurrena Construction/ Ganeta Investments;
- Iridium Concessions/ Pabisa/ Obras Subterráneas / Geotunnel;
- Acciona/ Exbasa/ TIIC Concessions/ Transitia Concessions/ Viuda De Sainz;
- Murias/ Ortiz/ Viconsa.
The bids comprise both technical and economic offers and will be evaluated until late September. Preferred proponents are expected to be chosen before the end of the year.
Project Details
The BI-635/N-240 concession will require the chosen private partner to build, maintain and operate a BI-635 section between Amorebieta-Muxika and an N-240 section between Boroa and Apari.
The BI-633 concession involves maintaining and operating two existing sections, one between Markina and Urberuaga and the other between Berriatua and Andarroa. It will also entail the selected consortia building, maintaining and operating a new section between Urberruaga and Berriatua.
The N-636 project will oblige the private concessionaire to build, maintain and operate the stretch between Gerediaga and Elorrio and maintain and operate the existing stretch ‘variante Elorrio’.
The BI-631 concession will require the private partner to build, maintain, finance and operate a section between Meñaka and Bermeo.
All four of the concessions are for a period of 30-years.
