TIIC,
represented by Miguel Alves, was one of the key note speakers at the 3rd Annual PPP in CEE and SEE Summit - The Risky Road to Recovery, held on the 8th - 9th June 2010, in Budapest, Hungary.

The conference, organized by Jacob Fleming with a particular focus in the CEE/SEE region and with sector focus in Transport, Water & Waste, Social Infrastructure and Renewable Energy, was an important initiative for discussion and networking in a fast developing region, which shares with many others in the world the challenge of development and renewal of infrastructure.

The event was a confirmation of the strength of the infrastructure industry, even in the current market conditions. The conference was attended by more than 140 delegates, including governmental and municipal representatives, construction companies, concessionaires, institutional investors, commercial and multilateral banks, financial advisers, technical advisers, law firms, among others.

The debate was unsurprisingly focused in the hot topics of the moment: the significant changes that the economic crisis has produced in the project finance landscape – the new paradigm of risk assessment by the several stakeholders, the reduction in the liquidity levels on the financial markets, the key role that international financial institutions have been having in the co-financing of projects – but also in the old challenges that the infrastructure community has been facing for some time now.

TIIC’s intervention was included in the Financing and Refinancing panel, an important element of this market that has been, more than ever, challenged in several manners. TIIC presented the investors perspective, but the panel was subject to a vivid discussion around several issues, like how is PPP financing performing under the changed conditions, what are some innovative ways of securing financing or how can international financial institutions involvement help a project.
